🤖 Kamath Robotics

This venture exists to give structure and purpose to the robotics work I’ve been doing since 2020 - building robots, experimenting with hardware and software, and documenting what I learn. What began as side projects - ROS 2 integrations, sensor benchmarking, mobile robot setups, and open-source experiments - grew in scope and ambition. In 2025, I decided to formalize this work and give it a proper home.

Kamath Robotics is that home.

This is a solo, part-time, deliberately focused robotics studio based in the Netherlands. It’s run by me, Aditya Kamath, and built around hands-on engineering, technical honesty, and sustainability, with a touch of ‘jugaad’ - creative, resourceful engineering when conventional options are limited.

Just to be clear, I’m not building a venture-backed startup or a large consultancy. I’m continuing to do exactly what I’ve been doing for a while, but with a legal structure in place for commercial projects. I’m building a place where real robotics work gets done - in the open, using first principles, and with curiosity leading the way.

What I do

Kamath Robotics is a robotics studio at the intersection of open-source robotics, applied engineering, and practical consulting. Some projects grow out of my own builds; others start as collaborations or client-focused work. The emphasis is always on prototyping, building, testing, and understanding systems in practice.

Typical areas of work include:

  • Hardware: Robot platforms, prototypes, test rigs, custom builds

  • Software: Sensor drivers, control systems, embedded software, software tools

  • Advisory: Architectural guidance, trade-off studies, benchmarking, sourcing

  • Content: Technical deep-dives, tutorials, hands-on product reviews, blogs

…and anything else that’s interesting, unique, creative, or challenging. I’m open to all opportunities.

How This Works

This studio is part-time by design. I dedicate 12–16 hours per week, occasionally up to 20, mostly on weekday evenings and weekends. I enjoy my full-time role as an engineering consultant and hence operate within clear boundaries; my employer is aware of this venture.

I run a small home lab with robots, sensors, electronics, 3D printers, and prototyping tools. Based in Eindhoven, at the heart of the Dutch high-tech ecosystem, I also have the proximity and connections to regional manufacturing facilities - from small-batch manufacturing to CNC machining and metal 3D printing - when projects require it.

Beyond the studio, I stay active in the robotics community by blogging about my work and attending events such as ROSCon. Over time, I’ve grown a strong network of robotics professionals and companies, particularly across Europe and India. If I’m not the right fit for a project, I can often help connect you with someone who is.

If this resonates, let’s talk - and build something together 🦾
